A couple of weeks ago I had a conversation about Vassar with Tom Rigney, a fiddle player from the Bay Area who has been with the bands Back in The Saddle, The Sundogs and Tom Rigney and Flambeau. Vassar was Tom's mentor and Tom was part of the crowd that played and hung with Vassar after Old and In The Way. Tom started off bluegrass but is now more Zydeco with lots of blues, jazz and old classic rock and roll. I could feel Tom's admiration for Vassar in his enthusiasm in talking about him with me. So Vassar lives through Tom and so many other great fiddle players and I get to hang with and see and listen to his musical children
